View Full Version : How much bounce should a 200x shock have? (update)

Just exactly how much does it bounce? I just got a different shock off Ebay and it seems a little bit better than the old but it still seems too bouncy. It feels nothing like my 350x rear shock. Should it feel the same? Or is the 350x shock just beefier. The old shock felt like a pogo stick. If it's blown I'm gonna try to email the seller and see what he will do.
The seller lists the shock as decent/usable. I don't feel it is usable unless this much bounce is normal.

Someone please tell me if there is that much of a difference between a 350x rear shock and a 200x. I don't want to get mid-evil on his ass if I'm wrong.

I'd say it should be like that. The 350X shock has alot more weight to support, therefor it will have less bounce because it has more weight to push back up/ontop of it.

Ok. I realize the 350x is alot of trike but I can stand over the 200x and when I drop down on it, it bounces up and down like three or four times before it comes to a rest.
I'm majorly concerned because this is my wife's trike and I don't want her to get tossed like the thing has a ejector dseat.

It's blown. A good 200x shock will feel like any other good shock, even a good 350x shock.

yea thats definetaly blown, i had a blown shock on my 200x and every time i shifted the little jolt it gave would give me a good three bounces...its not too expensive to rebuild around 50 bucks, but you should definetaly have ** seller pay for that...

Thaks adam. I got an email to him so I'll wait to see what he says.
I did'nt know you could rebuild one of these shocks. How and where to get the parts? I have two of them now and I paid too much to use them as boat anchors. LOL

you should be able to go to your local bike shop. not posotive how it works, if they need to order a rebuild kit or if there able to rebuild it themselves.. i would imagine they have to order seals or whatever. (ive never rebuilt my shock but i was looking into it, but a friend gave me a new one)
regardless your local bike shop should be able to help you out

I'll check tomorrow. I got a local mom and pop shop a mile away from me. I don't care for the dealers in my area.

Can you explain what good feels like. I'm a pretty big guy, My 200x sits kinda low to begin with... when my big ole but sits on it it hardly goes down if any at all. If I grab the pushbar and lift it comes up about an inch before the rear tires leave the groung. Is this normal?

that could be because your missing a bushing...did * install the rear shock or have * tampered with it? because if you look at where it mounts at the top, there should be a bushing in the top hole in the shock, it can come out of the shock. if your missing this it will allow some play in the suspension. this happened to me when i was swapping out rear shocks i droped the bushing when i wasnt paying attention.

I was about to say the same thing. Where are you getting a shock rebuilt for $50.00 Thats about a 1/3 of the price i've been able to find. I think you must be getting recharging and the rebuilding price mixed up. If you can find someone who will rebuild them for that price you need to share it with the board.

Just an update. The seller (bottomofthepile) has agreed to let me return the blown shock I purchased from them on Ebay. :w00t: They are refunding the full amount with shipping and even return shipping. I wanted to post this to let everyone know that there are still honest sellers on Ebay and that they are one of them. Great communication and easy to deal with.
