So out in PA this weekend with Josh/brapp I found something out....I've been riding trikes so long that I can't ride a quad anymore.

Thats right I tried riding Josh's trx450r and I totally hated it! I can't controll it. So weird because I started out riding bikes and quads but when I switched to trikes i hadn't ridden a quad since. His 450 was the first quad I've ridden in like 4 years and I totally felt helpless. I just could not get the hang of steering it.

Anyone else have this problem?

I mean I guess with a couple hrs of ride time i would get used to it again but the front end was just so heavy....that and I didn't like the feel of the newer 4-stroke engine. I rode his 350x (my first time on one) and fell in love. The 350x was like riding a big cushy couch and I loved the feeling of the engine, but the 450 just wasn't anything like it....

I really though I would end up with a450 eventually but I was wrong..lol

I ride a 300ex along with my R so I don't have your proublem persay. But You definatly feel like the front end is a led weight after being on a trike!!!

I had a somewhat similar experience riding a new Z 400 .. Couldnt stand how it felt. Power was nice and the suspension was smooth but i felt I was sitting up way to high.
I Like the 3 wheelers and my old banshee much better.

not to mention.......the front shocks on a quad simply don't obsorb the impact like forks. trikes are fun to jump because you pop right up thanks to a light front end. you get the stability of landing on two wheels in the rea, and the front forks obsorb the impact way better than a set of shocks ever could!

I just like seeing the ground under me rushing by.

The big KingQuad 700 EFI my next door neighbor has just gives you the impression of being in a convertable car ! Awsome ride.. but no view !

I have that same problem too, having started out on a 3 wheeler when I was round 10 on a atc 70 and moving all the way up to a 350x. I've had a few trx 250r's in there and currently have one. It goes both ways for me, if I ride a trike for a long time and get on a quad, it feels very stable, but its like the steering is too quick, ride a quad for a long time and get back on a 3 wheeler it feels like your riding on 2 tires 70% of the time.

hey I know exactly what you mean, most of my buds have trikes but of course I got this one buddy that has to have a quad,it is a fourtrax 250R.Now you would think that thing would be close rite, not even! I personally would end up in the hospital if I had a quad they are too stabile ,I am always getting chucked side to side and I feel totally unsafe. The worst was a drs650 Bombadier, that thing was so top heavy I could'nt believe it.I started riding at the age of 5 on a us90[tells you how young I am ] and I will never adapt to the quad ,Those things are dangerous!!!LOL

last winter i was riding with a bud and he has a 500 articat 4x4 and we switched and it felt weird, you are 4 feet off the ground and can't see what is right in front of you. i loved the power and added traction and ground clearance but the fun factor was missing. my bud was like a kid again riding my sx... should have seen him swing the ass end around, he said he really miises that feeling of freedom that a trike gives.

I know what you mean. I learned on an ATC200, my first 4-wheeler was a 250X. I had problems clipping trees with the front wheels since I wasn't used to the extra width.

I'm getting used to 4 wheels again, since my 250r is down. been riding my crf450r quad for the last month, however, damn........do I miss powersliding my 250r, hanging off the side, front wheel locked the other way, throttle wide open.

also, just wait till you stall the kick start 450's, pull in the hot start, put in in nuetral, kick it down, get it to top dead and whale on the kicker, usually it takes 2-3 times for the bike to start. and also, abolutely NEVER touch the gas if you want to start the bike, the trx450r is a bit more friendly to start than crf motors

I was at a friend's house and he had his little sister's quad out (90cc) . It was some generic name so I didn't bother remembering it. But I tried to wheelie it and it sucked. I'm used to the end popping right up escpecially on a 90 since there so small . The front very different from a trike. Another story is that my dad's friend borrows one of our trikes when he needs it to do work. Now he's got a quad. He says he hates it. It's one of those big bulky things that can't ride in the woods worth crap. He says the trikes ride alot better and are more fun too.

i jumped on my sisters beartracker one day and could not control it half as well as my old 200e, the 4 wheeler kept going back and forth on the road and handled so shitty, i love how it spins the tires in a donut though,, shhhh dont tell the sister

I thought it was me, but I'm glad to see I'm not the only one. I started racing when I was in high school on a 250R for three years before switching to a TRX. To this day I won't jump as high nor as far on a quad.

Thanks for the therapy.
