i took the clutch side crankcase cover off and amidst the small amounts of oil there were alot of tiny metal filings, where could this have come from, i am trying to take the camshaft and crankshaft off to see if they are usable for the rebuild i am having done to my 85 200x.. thanks for the help, i will probably need alot more help in the next little while of me putting the motor back together...

Dammit!

Take pics as you take it apart if you have a digi cam. Do you need a manual? I can hook you up if you need one.

Check the kick starter gears to see if maybe that's where the metal bits came from. Should be pretty obvious when you spot the offending part though.

Put a magnet to them and see if they are aluminum or steel, thatll help track it down. M' guess is spun bearing. Hope Im wrong! : (

My guess is cam chain loose, rubbing cylinder casting .. aluminum bits all in the oil rotor and everywheres... thats what mine looks like.
