What can happen if you dont have muffler on your trike.
As in no headpipe or jus the muffler itself? without the muffler wont hurt anything, if you run without a head pipe you can bend/burn a valve from lack of back pressure.

Removing the muffler from a 4 stroke will cause it to run super lean, and you can melt your top end if a neighbor doesnt put a bullet in your head first.
On a two stroke, you mostly just have to watch for the bullet.

I know a lot of people will tell you that you will lose power by taking the muffler off. Not always. I have 3 Yamaha TT500's and I'm running an open down pipe on one of them. Just imagine how load a 500cc 4-stroke is with no muffler. Rattles your eye sockets. Tons of people run them. It started as the stock head pipe for a 1976 XT500 with no muffler but aftermarket companies started making them because they worked so well. I saw a test that was done around 1980 with all the aftermarket exhausts for a TT on a dyno, the open down pipe out performed every aftermarket system. There is a company that still makes this pipe for the bike. I might buy another one for one of my other bikes.
Edit. As far as Tim saying it will run lean. Well I have the open pipe and no air box, just a clamp on UNI. I got up to a 230 main jet and got tired of buying them so I just started drilling the main jet out. I stopped counting how many times I drilled it but it was over 15. lol. I know that doesn't sound right but thats the truth.
