Well thanks to Olds86 I have a rear shock(thanks very much :))
But.... I got it recharged got it home and the recharge was gone, the worst part was I didnt know after I installed it so I was driving around like a bobble, up and down-so springy lol
so I need seals. Where can I buy seals, if I need them?

I still have my stock 86 shock I broke at the base with perfect seals, can I switch seals and put them in Olds86 shock he sent me? I know this idea I am about to say is a Hick Fix, can I weld my base to silver shaft? or will that not work?

heres a pic of a different shock(see below), but I show whats wrong with mine- can I use the base off OS86 shock and put it on mine?

ATC200-
My shifter is loose, the bolt that tightens it to the shifter shaft is stripped. I tried really reeming on her to get it tight, tight as it can go and it wont bite and stay on a spline. So do I use locktight?

thanks for the help guys :D :TrikesOwn

and.... I painted my pipe with high temp BBQ paint. Would to many coats make it flake off? its starting to rust now :(

If i were you i would buy a worrior rear shock. I wouldnt mess with fixing a broken rear shock thats what works shocks are for (rebuilding)

if the threds are stipped out on the shifter put a nut on the backside with a bit longer bolt n tighten it down, if the splines are stripped on eaither they need replaced.....the shifter you can also cut some metal out of the slot in it so when you tighten it it tightens further..

My place up here wants $40 Canadian for a recharge and reseal. I think I might buy oldschoolins 86 rear shock then get a recharge and reseal. I think thats my best bet to do.

I feel bad man, I thought you were going to get it rebuilt, not just recharged. Is there a way to scavange the parts off of the one I sent to you to fix your old one? Has anyone taken the bottom of the shock completely off the shaft?

Just a note here, the old seals probably let the oil out a long time ago and without oil a charge is useless. I'm suprised the place charged it without oil, they should have known it wasn't going to do anything. Sorry to hear about that.

About the shifter.

Buy an EMGO universal shifter.. cheap .. 20 $ canadian ... or a honda one.. but that's alot more money.

The one you have now might be salvageble if the splines are still not too worn out.

if you remove it and widen the gap using either a dremel with a cutting disk or a grinder with a thin cut off wheel.. ( A hacksaw would to in a pinch.. but it's slow !! )

if you stripped the bolt you either need a new bolt or put a nut behind it if the threads on the shifter itself are worn out.

Either way.. fixing it will only be temporary.. don't JB Weld it.. get a new shifter as soon as you can and be done with it.

Once you let the nitrogen out of a shock the seals are junk. If you take the bottom off you will still not be able to do much to it. You are going to have to take it in. I went through this on my Z and after 2 warrior shock and the stock Z shock I bought a works and have not had a problem. It was worth the 479.00 to me.
