I have a 01 400 ex with minor bolt ons, and I just picked up a clean 85 250r with the motor taken apart. I was thinking about selling my 400 to get the cash to frame up restore the r. I just wonder if it would be worth it or should I just keep my quad and try to mildly put the r back together. I dont really know if I will have as much fun on 3 wheeler as my 400. So please feel free to give your opinion. If I put 2000 to 2500 into the 250 how far can I get it fast and clean wise......... :wondering Thanks for taking time to view my post. Shaun

Yeah thanks... I think that the 250 would be a really neat bike after some money, and I dont think I will have much trouble slapping my friends banshee around that always picks on my 400. :naughty:

Hell yeah, sell the 400ex and build the R. You could have some money left over to start another trike project after the R. Maybe a 350X or something.

i would tell * to keep the 400 and just slowly work on the 250..or just focus on the 250 but keep that 400...* will miss it when its gone. i would love to have a 400 for trails and to have something very reliable to ride...my trike breaks down way too much....

you will have way more fun on the 250r then you ever would have on a 400ex.

I would keep the quad and work on the R on the side. If you use Ebay and 3WW to get your parts, you should be able to get it set up nice for not a lot of money. Just be patient and don't get in a hurry. Then you could have a nice quad and an awesome trike.

Nothing says you can't have both! There's times your 400ex would be the best ride for different terrains, and times you need that good old " three wheeling feeling" I should know, I rode @ raced atc since 1-79. Bought a 04 400ex just to keep up with boy's 03 400ex . That way I wouldn't tear my 86 200x, 86 250r,and stock 85 350x. (The parts are getting scarce) Main thing is to enjoy riding your atc @ atv in natures wonder and preserve the right for future riders. We can ride the 4wheelers, but are hearts will always belong to

lol this is a three wheeling sight most people are going to tell you to sell the four wheeler for a three wheeler. You could probly ask the same question with a atc 70 and a 450r and theyd say go with the 70 man its a trike! hahaha. but on a serios note i think you should keep the quad and slowly fix up the 250r. and like they said you should be able to find all your parts either on here or ebay for a resonable price. and if you do most things your self (witch isnt that hard espeacialy if you buy a manual) you wont have to worry about paying a shop for labor. But if at the end you do decide to sell the 400ex 2000-2500 into a 250r would make for one heck of a nice trike. with that money you could even buy a power valved engine and a pipe from ESR and totaly demolish that banshee

Keep the quad if you can. It shouldnt cost too much to fix the R. Just because someone is pro-trike, doesnt mean they're anti-quad. I for one love my kids' DS90, TRX 70, My 350X and my 2000 banshee. It took me over three years to acquire them all, but the more the merrier. :w00t:
Only problem is trying to store them all...(it's a problem I can deal with, gladly)
