Oil it unless you like dirt in your motor.

Put oil, and check it every now and then to see how dry it is. If it's dry add more.
Make sure the filter is clean, wash it in hot soapy water, blow it off with a air gun or ring the heck outa it, then use some bel-ray or hondaline air filter oil on it, get it one ther,,, and then work it in with your fingers by sqeezing it n workin it around, use it till it completyly throughout the filter, i like the bel ray cause its blue you can see where the oil is and isnt, if you dont run it with oil its useless, its like running without one, you can fry your motor, just the other day a guy brought a 250f into the shop, motor was fryed, why? cause he didnt maintain is air filter, its one of the most important things to watch ..................clean it regularly, or when it gets dirty...................................thats my lecture............thanks....haha!

If you have an UNI the best thing you can do is get the UNI filter care kit. It has a cleaner and the oil for your UNI.
You should clean and reoil your filter almost every ride or every other ride depending on how dirty and dusty it is and weather or not you have the airbox lid on or not.

unis come dry so you need to put some on it.
I wouldnt get the uni service kit it is too expensive.
get a can PJ1 or Klotz foam filter cleaner and a can of foam filter oil. it will be the same price as the uni kit put you get a huge can of each instead of the smaller ones from uni.

probably i dont see why not. i put transmission fluid on mine when i first got it. the "experts" would say use foam filter oil for foams and gauze type filter oil for the k&n and others like it.

I use No-Toil and nothing but any more. As far as I'm concerned oiling your filter with normal filter oil is old school.
No toil "oil" you simply rince out with their soap and wash it down the drain because it is biodegradable. You can also wash it in the washer if you so desire. I have heard many use tide to clean the filter also instead of No Toils cleaner.
I stand by it a 100% and love the stuff. So, so much quicker then the "old" way.
I prefer the spray can of No-Toil oil also because it's neater and you only get on the nessacary amount and no more.
Wash filter out down the drain, dry, spray...........your done!
It's also none flamable and that's why 4 strokes have a back fire screen in, because all other oils are flamable and the filter can catch on fire. You could run your trike with out that screen for a bit more air flow but usually it doesn't make all that much difference.
Try it, I'll bet you"ll never go back!! :beer
Check it out ........ http://www.notoil.com/
BTW........it's so good that both Honda & Kawasaki sells it in their dealerships with there name on it! Watch some of their videos to learn more.

I sure hope the No-toil filter oil is better then their air filters. I had one on my TRX250R and about a week after I put it on a popped the airbox cover to check it out and the fricken thing had ripped right at the rubber boot part that hooked it to the airbox. 3/4 of it was not even attatched anymore and was letting every peice of everything go right into the air intake tract. No more no toil products for me.

On my UNI I bought for my 125m it says right on the package itself to oil it up. I dont use UNI oil though...I just use the Belray stuff and it works fine.

Sorry to hear that because I love their oil set up. Did you write back to them telling them the problem? Maybe it was a bad batch of them or something and you can get a free one?

Na, never did. Honestly it was probably just a fluke and would never happen again in a million years but it just something I like to mention when No-toil products are mentioned.
