I just bought a moose complete gasket set for my 86 R and it only came with a .010" thick stainless head gasket, is that the correct thickness? It seems way too thin since the one that I took of looks like 3 of these gaskets hooked together.

Will increase compression probably similar in thickness to the 3 wheeler gaskets up to you if thats what you want to do. Might make a nice hp increase or might cause the need for high octane fuel.Or might do both. I perfer the thinner gaskets.

I also use the thin gasket with a rechambered and milled head.

I believe the stock thickness is .050 of an inch. I would have to go measure one to be sure. If I remember correctly thet have a .010 then a .030 spacer plate then another .010 to total the .050 thickness. The CR250 used the thin head gasket(.010) and is interchangable with the Rs.

Going with the 0.010 CR thickness gasket will require me to run more than 94 octane wouldn't it?

I have a .010 gasket and I can run premium but it depends on your compression. Once you get it together and broke in do a compression check.

well, i use a milled head and the cr head gasket and its doing good, no leaks....i know that the cr is the thinnest, the atc is medium and the trx is the thickest....you can get any of them through nac's online store in the "honda" section....i recommend getting their clutch update kit too...its comprehensive...

I had the 3 peice head gasket also. I ground the rivets away and just used one thin peice and no spacer, I'm guessing it's .010. I run 93 octane with no detonation. I say use it.

Thats what I wanted to hear! :w00t: When you split your 3-piece head gasket you used one of the 2 thin outer layers? If so that is the thickness I have.

Yep, that's what I did. No detonation. Runs really good.
