I know durablue sells 81-82 extended R axles and they will fit 83-85 200x's, you just have to use the R sprocket. Will any early R axle fit a 200x?

yea 81-82R's fit 83-85 200X's. bearing surface and spread are the same for those 2 machines

I find that hard to believe since the 81R has 3 rear bearings as opposed to 2 on the 82.

I just got done rebuilding an 81R and it only had 2 bearings in the rear end. obviosly the biggest difference between the 81R and the 82R and 200X is the rear disc brake. so if you have an 81R and you get an 82R extended axle or an extended or even standard length 200x axle for that matter you are going to lose your rear brakes. me personally I cant stand the rear brakes, they do nothing for me but get me into an uncontrolable slide at high rates of speed when I need to slow down for a turn. I'll stick to my front brakes only.

why would i lose my rear brakes? i just want to expand my searches on ebay for a nice axle for my 200x.

I lost the rear brake on my 81R cuz I had to put an 82R swinger on there and it has the caliper mount on the swing arm and the 81 doesnt. you may still be able to retain your rear brakes if the spline count is the same on the axle and the rotor hub.

durablue says the only difference in their axle is you need an 81-82 sprocket. So I'm pretty sure my brake setup will stay the same.
