xl185 and 200x clutch cover

Will the clutch cover off of an 83-85 200x fit on a 82 XL185? I am going to put the XL185 bottom end on a atc 200 top end. All I am missing is the clutch cover and kickstart.

are the bolting surfaces the same on a 82 atc 200 an an 84 200x

Smokey, I cannot answer this question because I have not seen the bottom end of the xl. But I can tell you that the xr200r and 200x covers interchange. I dont know if that helps or not. But crossrefenrence parts schemes. I can only guess how close the bolt up patterns on the 200's & 185's are across the board. What we need is either someone whom has every engine, or someone whom has tried crossreferencing each one. Example, someone put a 185 cover on a 200s, that cover has been put on a 200m, that cover put on a simple 200, and so on. I wish you luck.

I bought a 84 200x cover off ebay I think it will work but I will have to build a plate to cover the place for the gears for the kicker. Since the xl kicks backwards it has no gears.
