I want to take the whole assembly off for repainting. I have the manual but thought I'd ask on here if you have any tips on removal.

Does that come off as one whole unit or I must take the shaft part off seperate?

Good luck !

remove both wheels.

you got an 85 or 86 ?

You'll need either the tool to remove the castle nut on the right side that can be made using a 32mm socket and a grinder or with a blunt punch and a hammer..

then with a big hex. 17 mm . or with a 17mm bolt and a few nuts screwed onto themselves you ge tthe pivot bolt out.

you need to remove one side of the rubber boot.

remove the brake backing plate.. axle.. diff.. pull the driveshaft from the rear to disconnect it from the engine.. ( DO NOT REMOVE THE PUMPKIN GEAR ON THE ENGINE) and the whole swing arm slides to the left and out.

Good luck .. specially with that castle nut !!!
