Fork replacement ? those beads on my floor...

What's the trick to get the beads and stem all in together?? what a mess when I took the old one out..beads bouncing everywhere..do you pound the race out of the stem or pack it with grease and hope they stick?

Stick them all with grease, is the only way I know.

make sure you got all 18 of them .. ( on an SX there's 18... must be fairly close to the same amount ) .

and yes. marine cup grease.

I always put a carpeted mat below that has ridges in it so if they do fall they can't go very far.

The bottom ones I install on the stem itself instead of up in the frame. Most likely others do it the same way too.

I take some grease and put it all over the races and put the ball bearings on one at a time till I have them all on. Just take your time putting the forks back on, and they won't fall off.

Lmao... Yup! they fall all over the place. I also managed to fall on my rear end after stepping on some. I packed the neck with grease then installed them. The grease should hold them in place pretty good. I didn't have alot of trouble with mine.

I put them on after I install and tigten down the steering stem.

I meant for a set of solid forks. If they were regular forks, I would install the steering stem first and then install the legs.
