I have an 83 185s, I just painted the engine and frame black. I used a wire brush to get in all the cooling fins and after putting the tank back on and everything else, i started it up and it ran just as before. When i took it out for a real ride, about 5 miles, it was leaking on the right side of the top of the engine (the right side if your sitting on the wheeler and looking at the front wheel) There is some sort of cable hooked up to lever... maybe a compression release??? don't no, didn't work when i got it. My question is, could the wire brush some how have rubbed the gasket and screwed it up? or does it sound like there is a loose part? should i just get a top end gasket set? if you guys don't no what im talking about i will post a picture. thanks

you might have screwed up the seal on the decompresion lever.

Thanks guys, how would i replace it? does the whole assembly come out? Im not much of a mechanic, just got into fixing my first trike, so would it be easy for me to fix this or should i get it done professionally?
it would be easy, you have to pop the bolt out thats up top, pull the assemby out, pop the seal out n put the new one in put it back togeather.

I was able to throw an O-ring in there and that did the trick.
