200es shift shaft help

I'm new to this and was wondering if someone can help me. I broke my shifter shaft and am in the process in replacing it. The only problem I'm having is installing the shaft right. The shaft is in my big red but is real sloppy and it never was before. I think I didn't put the shaft aligned right the the stopper plate or the spring on the shaft is in the wrong position. Please help me. I want to go riding tomorrow.

Oh boy?? huh? are you sure the shifter isnt stripped? if not what did you do too break it? it could be internal? give more detail. May have an answer. or are you into the internal part? cuz I know nothing about that and sorry If I spoke out of turn. faf

No its not stripped. I just put a new shifter shaft in the motor. I think I didn't get it aligned right with the shift drum stopper. My old shaft was welded on and I broke it on a trail this week. I'm going out right now to tear the motor apart again.
