I have just been looking on ebay and there is a 250SX for $899.
The plastic and tyres all look good and he says it runs well.
Can anyone tell me if this is a good price to pay?
Also what is the difference between a 250SX and a 250ES?
Any help will be greatly appreciated,
Jason :-P

if it is in good condition it is a good price. The 250es is the Big Red model.

the 250es is the Big Red model, but that doesn't tell you much lol. The 250sx has better suspension and smaller tires and is lighter. The 250es is a workhorse but the 25" tires are good when you need the ground clearance, but it's still fun!

I sold mine for $700 but I would have sold it for $800 if my friend didn't buy it which he did. I think the price was too high and thats why no one bid on it. Mine was a 1987 and it was in A LOT better shape than that one is. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=2402272642&category=6724

It's funny you guys are talking about this. I'm the guy that bought it. Problem is I have to wait until 3/6/03 to take delivery because I had to have it shipped to Cincinnati. I had an '85 back in '86 and I've been dying to get another one. I think this one looks good because the plastic is good, the grab bar isn't bent (too bad) and it still has the original front fender and tire, and the tool box is still on it. He has the original tank, took it off to keep it like new so I'll put that back on, and a new front tire for it. I'll do a complete tune up and whatever else it needs and it should be a great trike. Looks like it'll need new handlebars and some tinkering. Like I say it just needs cleaned up a bit (I hope) and it'll be great. Once I get it I'll let you guys know how it is.

Well then...I hope you like it when you get it. The sx will last you the rest of your life if you take care of it.

Thanks Crazy, I plan to. And I know I won't abuse it anywhere near as bad as I did when I was 15!!

I have an 85 250SX that I have barely ridden other than up and down the alley. I bought it because it looked like brand new and came with a small trailer. I have never had an easier bike to start. One kick or just a touch of the starter and it is running. I have a collection of 350X bikes and use them for riding but have been keeping the 250SX for when I am can no longer kick start the 350X. Even then I might put an electric starter on it when the time comes. I paid 1,000 for mine with the trailer but would hesitate taking twice that for it. I had a clean 85 when I bought this one but sold it for $1,000 when I bought this one.

WOW! That's REAL nice! I hope to get mine looking that way because I won't be beating up on it too bad. I know these sx's haven't lost their value and are going up for ones in good condition (just see what they're getting for them on E-Bay).
You can't go wrong by hanging onto the one you have, you got a bargain on it! If I see another one for sale in that kind of condition I won't hesitate to buy it.

If you could package that up with one of the 350Xs and send over to the UK that would be much appreciated.

200X and 250ES are the closest that were imported originally.
