Thanks all I got the big Red running this week..Coil and CDi were shot...Glad I did not junk her out. but the question is what do you all run for tire pressure. I am getting the snot kicked out of me riding the trails. so I guess how low can I go before I start loosing the bead? I just aired them up untill they were level and started riding. another question. do these 200 honda motors need back pressure to run? I wanted to cut the silencer off, and replace with a racing muffler for a junior Dragster, but thought that I would need to at least replace the jets. the silencer that is on it is junk, and was hopeing for more power out of her. I will get pics up as soon as I get the camera running. and the camo paint finished. But thanks again for all the help :beer

4 to 6 lbs max.

Keep the stock exhaust unless it's rotted out... you won't gain enough to make it worth your while.

Thanks I was wondering about the exhaust. I will haave to take my tire guage home tonight and find out what the pressure is. but I believe it to be higher than that. Thanks. By the way, what are those tires on yours (in the avatar)?

Bear Claws..... no good on a hardtail bike..... they are rock hard at 6 psi. but they go thru mud like nothing else. LOL..

If you don't have a gauge ( and unless you have a LOW PRESSURE GAUGE don't even bother.. a car tire gauge won't read 4 psi very well at all ) don't worry.. just take a rope lay it on the ground.. drive the tire on it and measure the circumference around the tire... make both the same and she should ride straight.

Even the heel dig works good.... just push your foot on the tire from the back and adjust to the same cusion level.

I run my tires on my big reds at about 3 pounds, recomended is 2.2 lbs. Lower pressure is good for rocks and such, higher pressure is good for sand, loose dirt, mud and snow. Generally the less pressure the more flex and "suspension" you'll have on a hardtail bike. For tires I run cheng shin radials on the back and either cheng shin or dunlop knobbies on the front its cheap long lasting and provides good traction and steering.

I run like 2 PSI on my Bear Claws. Remember Big Red isnt for haulin @ss around trails. Its a slower machine with tons of torq. Sounds like you need a 250 SX.

Thanks everyone, I lowered the pressure to about 2.5 all around and it rides alot better. I plan on using it hunting this year, so fast is not really important (want not a need thing) I would like to get a fast one someday, but the wife only lets me have 2 toys at a time. :D the power it has is pretty awsome for a 200. I think it comes from the 2 speed in the tranny. I dropped it into 1 and low and canned it and almost ended up on my back hugging a trike :p but thank you all it rides alot better
