The front forks on my '86 Tri Z seem to be way too stiff!! I have checked and released all the air from the forks. They still only give about 3 or 4 inches. Feels very hard when landing the front end. Just wondering if this is right or if there is someway of making them give some more. Thanks.
did someone put spacers in them? or im thinkin too much of a heavy fork oil, take them apart and see....
Could be both spacers and heavier oil and/or raised oil level.
That's where I'd start looking. Pull the caps and see if there's a spacer between the cap and the spring. Drain the oil and put new fork oil in. I don't have the specs on my 85 in front of me, but your's is an 86 with bigger forks anyway. Start with factory recommended oil weight and height. Someone here can hook you up with 86 Z OEM specs.
Let us know what you find!

I bet there is too much oil in them. Put the front up on a block so the forks are hanging and then set your air to 0 psi. While it's up drain the oil out of the bottoms using the little plugs near the bottom on the side of the tubes. Not exactly sure how much you need in there I'm sure someone will know.
Does anyone know HOW MUCH oil the forks need?

I agree with everyone here, I bet that there is too much oil in there than what there should be. TimSr might know, that guy is like a bible of tri-z's lol

Thanks everyone. I will probably drain the oil and add the recommended amount. Hopefully that will fix the problem.
