i know its almost 2 years since the original post, but i just checked them out and it doesnt look like they offer it anylonger. i just bought a 87 cr500 with intentions of converting into a 3 wheeler. does anyone know where or who i can get a swing arm from. i already have a donor 250r front end and axle and carrier... i just need a swing arm to get the ball rolling????!!!!

HELP!!!!

Jason can take care of whatever you need for the swap.

i think you would be best to buy a rolling 250r chassis.it'll be alot easier fitting plastics, and you won't have a one off subframe, and swinger that will be costly to make,or replace.the 250r frame could be shipped to jason, and fitted for the 500 motor fairly easy.then you don't need a custom swinger.if you wanted to fit the 500 motor yourself,i am sure there is enough info on the boards to help you, plus we will always be open for questions.

do what you will, thats just my .02

I am in the process of creating a jig that will allow me to build a bolt up swingarm for the CR500 frame, with all the hookups for the original linkage included. I can't give you an exact time frame on when it will be done and how much they will cost because I'm only about half way finished with it now. They will be 1x2 aluminum tubing with a lot of re-inforcement. Send me a PM if your interested.

thanks for all the info and leads so far. i know it would probably be easier to put the engine in a 250 roller, but i already have 3 250r's and would like to do something different. i saw this bike on this sites readers rides and just fell head over heels for it. i could probably build the swing arm myself, but i wanted to try to outsource it first to get the ball rolling if anyone already had one built or knew of where to get one. i would love to see this being offered as kit like the leagers were. i know this isnt a bike for everyone, but i go to the pismo dunes all the time and i love the looks on everybodys face when a quick trike lays the smack down on a quad or tweenty. lol. i just want to do at least one cr500 conversion with the possibilities of a few more in the works...once i work the bugs out of the first one.

blah, blah, blah...sorry for the novel,

thanks again guys, i'll keep you all informed

just some pics of the cr500 with the new swinger (mocked up) and front end on. i just pieced things together to see what else i need. it will be running a complete trx450r rear set up. i cant quite figure out a good way to make sure everyhting lined up correctly. the chain looks right on, but i'm not sure how squre the rear axle is to the centerline of the bike since it's offset. anybody got any suggestions??? i havnt welded ereyhting up cause i want a little input first.

here it is after it's first ride. all the rear parts are from a trx450r, grafted to the original cr500 swingarm. CRAZY FAST!!!! it still is running the cr500 seat and subframe, but i just started working on that today.
