I'm not in the loop, but would like to know some details on this!

So far, i've figured out it was built by 3wheelsforever (Virgil). It's got an 86 KXT front end.

Awesome!

Yup thats right. I started the conversion about 3 weeks before TF05 knowing I had to get something going for trikefest that would really shock people. I also thought itd be cool to have a newer 4 stroke in a trike. Like Holic said its the closest thing to having a new trike. I started out with a stock 2000 YZ 426 that I got for 1700, sold most of the stuff I didnt need and made about half my money back. I removed the front end off of my 86 Tecate and modified it so it would work on the dirtbike frame(had to punch out the 426 steering stem and put it in the tecate tripples). After that I put the tecate rear end on the 426. It fit right in but spacers had to be made so everything was tight. The subframe sat to high so I ended up modifing it also. I used blaster rear plastics and a custom seat which will most likely be redone by Derrick. It still needs some work and will most likely get a different swingarm, wider axle, and a more modified subframe soon. It definitly moves!!!

Very cool! I'd like to build something like that myself. Post some pics up in this thread if you can. I saw a side view somewhere, I think in Dynofox's thread.

So you used the Tecate rear end too. Pretty good stuff.

So.... Hows she handle man!
1. Can you compare its handling to an 86/7 Tecate?
2. Does the rake of the forks match the tecate?
3. is the seat height low enough to work? do you feel safe riding around on it or is it a bit of a pig?
4. are you using yz rear shock or does the tecate stuff bolt right in?
As you can see you've got me worked up!....... nice work!

That's pretty cool! Looks like an '05 model trike. The seat leaves something to be desired though... ;)

Man, Im very impressed, awsome job. I have been wanting to build a big (new technology) 4 stroke 3 wheeler for a while now. I think im going to try and make it happen even faster now that I've seen yours. How does she compair to other high performance trikes you've rode? Again awesome job.

P.S. Try and get some pics of it when you get her all cleaned up. I would love to see it in more detail.

Thanks guys Several people at TF got a chance to ride it like Jim and Holic, they both seemed to like it. It handles pretty good actually, The subframe needs to be modified so you sit about 2 inches lower and it needs to be wider. I couldnt tell you if the 426 rake matches the tecate rake. I feel fine riding it but with a few modifications itd be much better. Im using the YZ shock. This thing has a crapload of suspension travel.

i would totally do one of those conversions, but its finding a bike that you dont feel bad about cutting up, and the whole money thing comes into play....

It did not feel tippy really at all, and I liked the seating position, the seat was comfy (enough) but Virgil doesnt use the seat ever!. Anyways, personally, I would give up a little travel to keep the seating position, but that may not be possible. I will tell you it flat out hauls, and I got off it immediatley so I wouldn't get hurt. What really impressed me is the fact that 3wheelsforever is a pretty young guy and had the balls to build it, race it and, well, did you see those jumps??

I was looking at the TF pics and was like, "hmmm, never saw a blue sport trike, what gives?" Thats pretty awesome that you did that in just a couple weeks, im sure we'll see a couple more pop up now that you have done all the hard work. Congrats on an awesome trike and thanks for opening new doors.

Thanks for all the comments guys, n thanks for posting those pics. I believe Ive finally made the decision and its getting a complete YFZ450 rear end with an extended axle and 18 inch maxxis razors. I still have to work out the jetting since it still isnt right. A few things here and there n the trike will be even better. Me and a couple buddies are making another trip to Haspin soon and a trip to the badlands. Were also hoping to make it to a few races w/ TimSr and Derricks crew. I should have a great action video of nuthing but trikes around this winter.
