if that is all then i give up. i figured porting would give me about 8-10 alone. i was thinkin more around 40-45

wow....40-45......that would probly be pushing the reliability limits of the air cooled motor....idk, maybe you can get that much from them....good luck either way...it will still rip...

lol bro i was in your position last year... you want to get big horse or larger numbers out of a R, you gotta part with the 83, i know my dads 83 R which is Trinity DRAG port, milled head 19cc, rad valves, 34mm flat side jetted WAY!!!!!!!!! up...answer pipe. bored 80 over so it sits at like 280cc, honestly when trinity was done with the motor, we never dynoed it but had it estimated at about 38-42 honestly that sounds alittle high for a air-R motor, he will smack my basically stock 85 R around, he doesnt loose much if he can get the holeshot... i say go waterpumper tho.. my dads looking into the CR480 motor swap in, but once again thats going to be expensive getting the motor $250?? cdi and wire harness $100 and MANY OTHER PARTS!? (in good condition). as it sits now he is unsure, we are taking the bike back down to frame so we can re-do some stuff, also when i rode it last some how i messed up the bike and now it only has 4 gears (he wasnt very happy on that) it shifts fine but the clutch is SUPER TIGHT and now its a 4spd... MAKES A GREAT DRAG BIKE!!! hahahaha-h-a so something is wrong down under. but i say honestly no more then 33 horses, and your sorta like giving a old horse a steriod booster, unless you ride woods, or vast amounts of trails go to a waterpumper. I have tried to talk my dad into going pumper but until i really kill him on my R he ant moving, he is a rock solid neck to neck 1st threw 3rd and by then the drag is "basically" over.
Just my opion.... good luck... i say 33

also nitro on a air-cooled motor is a chance thing.... and any gains wont be worth the price, the racing fuel you could add about 2 horse put the nitro will make your motor RUN HOTTTTTTTTTTTTTT!!!! and then compression and bottom end failures become issues, the VP fuel might pay off here and there, but honestly just go pump. at close to 25 for 5 gallons of VP and about 12 for 5 gallons of 93 or higher, i say go 93 if you really want a boost just get a octane booster that wont hurt fuel injection systems (should say on the bottle) and it should get you up to about 100 or 105.

honda claimed 26 horsepower out of them 84 model 83 was claimed 24, 84 they changed pipe profiles and jets inside the carb, best way just order a jet kit for a 84 carb which is the moose carb rebuild kit and you are dialed in 84.

well does anyone wanna buy this thing? right now i am working to buy a warrior for a riding bike and i planned on having a drag bike to fiddle with too. could i find a pumper for 500-600 running or not?

not for that price, pumpers are around 1-2K depending on how clean they are, i stole mine for 1K it is good condition a runs great... so its all were you at when a deal drops... dont go warrior if you want a riding bike, if you really want a fast all around bike, sell the R add up the money and try to slip into a Z400 or a 400ex, simple mods make those bikes pretty quick

24 for the '83, and I've seen 29 claimed on the Honda brochure for the '84. Higher compression, better porting.
