I have n 81' and I don't know the name of the part but it's a white plastic piece that the chain rubs up against by the front of the swingarm. Anyway bikebandit says that it's discountinued. Does anyone know where I can get one? Does it have to be on and is it safe to use without it? thanx

I would say you need it. On my 350x it is worn down pretty good. If you compress the rear suspension I think the chain gets a little slack in it. Chain may hit the frame and I dont know what that would do to the frame and the chain. Make some sparks at lest lol. I have heard of people using chain slides off other atvs 400ex 300ex?
