i recently bought a 85' 350x and it has a DG pipe on it and i believe it has no baffels or packing in it i was wondering what the stock main jet was in this bike, the jet in it now is a 138 and i know i usually change the jets on my other bikes when i put a performance pipe on them. i have read that people go up to a 150-155 main jet, should i? :wondering

150 is going to be WAY rich, Ill bet money 142 will be good, but if you want to run a little rich 145. 138 is the stock jet. Dont forget to do the pilot jet also, it will make a MAJOR diffrence, I would just go up one size on it.

My '85 350X had a basically wide-open TRX450R muffler and an open air box lid.
I changed to a 142 main and adjusted the pilot screw.
It worked FANTASTIC.

Get that compression release cable fixed asap.
It's CHEAP and readily available at the dealer ($20 tops).
The adjustment is VERY easy, too.
Once you get a 350X adjusted right, it's a pretty easy-to-kick trike.
It's the NUMBER of kicks that it takes that kills folks. :p

Everyone always talks about how hard the 350's are so hard to start. I don't have a decompression cable, and mine starts first kick, every kick. And its rather easy too.

yeah, mine has a working decompression cable and it is easy to start just 1 or 2 kicks.
the compression isnt as bad as i thought it would be the way some people described it.

yeah mine usually starts on the 2 or 3rd kick but if * dont get it in those it takes a FEW more lol but all i have to do is go through the procedure described on the tank of turning ignition off, holding full throttle and kicking a few times which blows the gas out, then she'll fire right up. i also have to have the throttle fully enguaged to start.
i do not need to give it any throttle when its cold ( sitting over night) just choke. this is when its kind of hard to start sometimes
does any 1 have the same deal?

Ive had mine for so long that i can go up to any 350x and have it started by the 3rd kick (assuming that its a running X). Theres a trick to it, for me its just natural now.
