ATC 70 owners - need opinions

This weekend there was one listed in our local paper. I think the ad said it is a 1984 model and the owner wants $350 firm. The ad also said it's in mint shape.

Are these good little trikes? Are there any years to avoid or anything that commonly goes wrong? Give me your opinions and advice before I check it out.

If its in the shape he says, thats a good deal. If it runs. All of them can be tempermental when it comes to starting it. There werent any bad years. I just sold my daughters for $550. It was nearly perfect and ran great. It was still a bear to crank every now and then. When it was hard to crank, it wouldnt want to idle right for a little while. Just tempermental. Good bike though. Will flat moove for one that small.

They are very dependable trikes. We ride them all the time at a friends house. He has a track out in his field and us full grown guys and girls ride the piss out of them and have never broken one. Sure you have the tempermental problems like ClayW said, but it is usually simple stuff like the petcock screen is full of rust, spark plug etc... I have bought a few 1985 models that wont shift, but that is a quick fix. There is a shift drum tensioner behind the sintrifugal clutch assembly that cracks and dosent apply pressure to the shift drum, thus not allowing it to shift properly. You can still buy the tensioner from Honda pretty reasonably. Other than that, Awsome Little Trikes!!!!!!!!!!!!

I say get it .... especially if its an '84 - It has the four speed tranny. Good, fun little machines. Here's mine.

you won't really fall in love with it until you've cracked your kneecap on the handle bars a couple times..... :D :D :D
