Axle & swinger plating looks good, kind of OEMish yet differently original. If that makes any sense. :beer

Thanks AZ250R but the swinger is going to have to be sprayed or powder coated because all the acid used in the plating process has leaked into the box section of the swinger and is now leaking out causing the zinc to rust in effect There are loads of pin holes in the welds , I drilled holes in the swinger to allow for drainage but there are still spaces where the acid has gone. Bummer it looked real good better in the flesh than on photo

i think you should be able to neutarlise the acid using baking soda so that it stops the rusting. if you mix up a solution of it and get some inside the box section that should help

Cheers Slothminx (hell of a name by the way) I,ll try that. I,ve already rinsed it in the parts washer and blown it out with an airline but the stuff still seeps out,,,, its like its trapped in pockets,, obviously I gotta get rid of this before |I spray it up cos I will be in the same situation!!

Soak the swinger in a mix of water and baking soda (very heavy on the baking soda) then rinse it out real good with acetone to dry up the moisture. Test the acetone on a small spot to make sure it doesn't damage that finish first though.
