Spark problems with a 83 200

[Russell 350X]

We tried changing coils, gapping CDI pulse gernerator, and cleaning fuse box thingy. It ran fine yesterday and it just died and has no spark. What do we need to do. The spark plug is fine we tried it in somemthing else and it sparked great.

check your on/off switch contacts......

got a multimeter ?

There is no electric start, just pull start. We will check the killswitch contacts, anything else than may be wrong please let me know.

we used a ohmeter if thats what you mean by multimeter to check the ignition coil, pulse generator coil, and stator. we allso did a countinuety test and straight wired the whole thing. now it will spark once but no more than once even it the piston goes to compresion more than once.

So does anyone else know what could be wrong? We (me and Somekindofjerk) tried everything else we could think of, still nothing.

the cdi is shot

Did you check the exciter coil ( part of the stator )? They are known to go bad.

does it flood? My 200 i though had no spark, then 2 hours later, about to take it apart, i pulled it over for no reason, and bam worked great, but i put the carb together wrong, so it flooded again untill i took it apart and "rebuilt it"

the pulse generator behind the alternator will cause no spark or weak spark. maybe its going bad?

what is your stator coil "exitor" coil reading??
