I was under the impression that 85/86 350X's used the same rear carrier bearings, I know the carriers themselfs have a different design for the adjuster..But I must be missing something
Now to the point, I see advertised on ebay, "350x rear bearings, all years", well, That is what I purchased for my 85 with the stock 85 carrier, it came with 2 thin bearings. Well a rock got caught in my sprocket, and ate the allready toasted adjusting teeth on the stock 85 carrier.
I grabbed the stock 86 carrier off the 350x I parted out, and I decided to throw it on mine, first step was obviously removing the old toasted bearings.. well the brake side one looked just like the thin ones I put in my 85 carrier, but the sprocket side one is like an inch wide, here is a pic of them side by side. the thin one on the right is what normally goes in them I guess

Now there is three options I can think of.. Either that isnt a stock 86 carrier, or else someone crammed that bearing in there.. Or else the 86 bearings came that way..
Heres a pic of the side of the carrier.. this side is where the wide bearing came out of ;

I also noticed the seals seemed to be thinner, or else they got ate away by the sprocket + brake rotor hub. (could of been caused by using that bearing??)
Is the spacer between the bearings thinner on the 86?
I wanted to just swap this out with the crappy stock 85 carrier on mine, I have the countersunk sprocket hardware, and all the rear brake linkages incase that turned out to be different.
Any help + info is appreciated.
I'd like to know what is different, and if it can be used.. before I tear the rearend apart on mine.
