so the 300r build starts today........

i picked up the 84 250r from louis mielke (thank you again for your help) brought it home and started pulling it apart. it is gonna take a bit of work but i am looking forward to it. i pulled the head(easy cause there were no nuts holding it on) and saw lots of rust. there was no plug in it for god only knows how long. a bunch of the fins on the head were broken off too. that doesn't matter though as the 300 kit will be going on in it's place. tomorrow i am going to pull the engine and start stripping the frame. that will be going to the powdercoater first along with the swinger.


couple of questions,
where is a good place to get an aluminum swingarm skid plate?
second is does anyone know where the airbox is from? and do any of you have one for an 84 r?

i will be posting pics from time to time as i get 'r done!!!!!

i will also have some parts in the classifieds for sale too.

PRM make aluminum skidplates for the 83-84R's and I have now I dea what that air box goes to. I have an 83R that I am piecing togethor at the moment. its almost ready for the powdercoater so whe I get it back it can become at least a roliing chassis

I'm not sure about that airbox. I don't think it is from a 200x. Mine don't look anything like that but I have an 85".

Did you sell the 250sx? How are you going to clean up that bottem end, also were did you get the 300 kit from...just a little curious

sold the sx to chrisg. machine shop gets to do the engine internals. and azhondagirl got the kit off a guy on ebay for 210 bucks. - complete

Nope that is custom honda color. Honda designed a paint which when touched by water turned a rusty color. Here's Your Sign ;)

haven't checked anything else yet. i will go pull the motor in a bit and get a little more into it.

My 300R project looks to be hitting a snag. The motor has a crack in the bottom, else the guy sprayed it with oil on the outside, cause there's a huge puddle of oil under the crate I'm storing it in upstairs. I might have to take the jug off and put it on my spare 250R lower.

Can't wait to see your 300R kit from azhondagirl.... is it brand new, or one someone parted off a motor?

well front sprocket is missing a tooth. rear looks good. anyone know how to get out the swingarm pivot bolt? i have the nut off and have been hammering away with a 3 lb sledge and it won't budge. i pulled the shock and want to pull the engine but can't clear the pivot linkage and i can't get the big lower pivot bolt out to move the linkage from the back of the engine.
