Hi Guys
I was wondering how many 86 tri-z 250s were made. I have a chance to buy another 86 tri-z and I was wondering what the last 5 digits of an 86 tri-z vin# would tell me. The guy selling the bike tells me he bought it in Sept of 1987 brand new at his local yamaha dealer and it was suppose to be one of the last 3 sold in the *.S. according to him and his dealer. Now, I not sure whether I should believe him or not but he says he still has all the paper work from his dealer. He told me that his dealer tried to order 7 - 86 tri-z right after the ban and only received 5 of the 7 in August of 1987. Now, does anyone know for sure if the last 5 digits of the bike's vin# represent that the bike for example was the 2154th out of 3000 86tri-z250s made for 1986? I am using those two numbers as examples only. What is the highest last 5 digits on a 86 tri-z made out there? Can all the 86 tri-z owners out let me know what their last 5 digits are so I can compare to this guys 86 tri-z. I am going tomorrow to see the bike and I ll get the vin# and see what the last 5 digits are of this bike and compare it to other peoples 86 tri-z's vin#s.
Does anyone have an exact number on how many 86 tri-zs were made for that year or close estimate?
