Dug into the x engine abit deeper

A couple days ago I took the engine in my x apart.. took the head off and removed the flywheel. To find that my camchain and all components were pretty much garbage, plus my piston was hitting the head. Today I took off the clutch side cover and took that all apart only to find about the same. Lots of aluminum in the filter. The crank threads are wrecked..stripped.. (way to fix that?)

Now my friend gave me an idea about the piston head issue.. maybe the crank bearings.. well that makes sence cause the piston was pretty much only hitting on the left side... so I checked that side and it's hard to tell if there is play in the bearing or not, if there is it is little. One thing I did find was that if i took a screwdriver I can turn the outer race of the bearing in the case... shouldnt that be a tight fit? What am I going to have to do? new case half? ...

This engine just seems to be getting worse the farther I dig in.
anyone have any ideas? .. Looks like I will be splitting a case for the first time ever.

If the piston is hitting the head, then I can safely say your rod bearings are out. I know this first hand. ;)

How did the threads get hashed? You kinda need them. I am with Howdy,,,,
DID you mic that piston?? You say only hitting left side. All that lovely metal your splitting anyway. Take a magnet down the inside of the crank into the cases. I wanna hear what you got.

I can check on this later today. I am assembling erectordale's 87 200x motor this morning ( top end rebuild ). I have a 84 200x motor sitting right next to it on the work bench. I can measure the 2 pistons.

On your crank / rod: Do you see the silver thrust washers on each side of the rod?

thrust washers are on both sides of the crank. I checked the side to side clearence its about .010" ... There seems to be abit of play in the wrist pin and rod end.. :S also there might be some rod play .. if there is it is very small. And the other thing would be the crank bearings not fitting tight in the case.
Now I just can't see how that could cause the piston to hit the head unless the gap is very small.

BTW the piston I am using is a wiseco 86-88 200x 200sx piston 10.25:1 wiseco lists different numbers for the older models.
