Flushing crank?

Ok, have any of you tried flushing a crank? I have some little pieces of metal in my crank (this is a 2 stroke). From where, I have no idea. Its not from the piston of top end. I don't wanna split the cases, because I will more than likely cause more damage trying to get the damn thing apart. Do think its possible?

You'll be able to " Assume " you have most of it out using compressed air or magnets on a rope.. but only true way to do it would be to split i guess....

dude! your crank bearings are probly shot and the races are spinning in the cases!!! it might be too late to save it....you HAVE to split the cases and check it out or it will seized, blow up, or throw a rod or all of the above....when you try to pick the pieces up with a magnet if they can be picked up that isnt too bad, you might just need to rebuild your crank and put new main bearings in, if you cant pick the pieces up you more than likely need new case halves....idk, my 2c.

you need to split the cases to find out where the metal has come from. It may have come from somewhere that is going to drop more rubbish in there as soon as you clean it out. you will need to strip it right down and clean all of it spotlessly as the smallest pieces of metal cause the most damage as they are the ones that can travel easiest

Ya I agree with these guys, you should split the cases. All it takes is one sliver to screw up your bearings.

If you just wanna do a redneck job, then with the bottom end still together, dump some gas in the crank area and rotate the crank a few times, dump it out, repeat.

Ok, I flushed it out, and 6, chunks of metal came out. I can see why my crank wasn't spinning,lol. Now I need to find out where they came from. Thanks for the help. I know I should split the cases, but I am too lazy and broke to split cases at the moment lol. It spins good now, and it should be alright.

Exactly, just because it's spinning doesn't mean it's right. Admitting a move like this is like asking people that know better to never buy a machine from you.

I checked out the metal pieces, and they are not aluminum, so it can't be from the cases.They couldn't be from a gear, becuase the crank is sealed from the gearbox. I dunno, I will probably have someone at a shop split my cases.

its either your crank bearings and/or rod and wristpin bearings....she will either throw something out the bottom of the motor or sieze.....good luck...if something goes you are talking big$ to fix it cause it will destroy your top end/bore job, crank assembly and possibly cases if its bad enough....
