I just bought a 200x that has had a different motor put in it. I'm pretty sure it is a 200 just not sure what kind (I've heard maybe a 200e, 200, or 200m). Next to the pull starter is an opening and a cable coming out, it doesn't do anything and I removed it. It doesn't have a high/low tranny or anything like that. Also I was wondering what the possebility of the carb, sprockets, and other parts still being from the 200x. I couldn't find any serial numbers and I don't have any pictures to upload yet. Not even sure what year it is. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

It might be a 200s motor, there are a few of those out there (200s motor in 200X frame) they are called Auto 200x's.

If you get pics we can tell you what year the 200x part is. The motor I don't know...

Yep, sounds like an Auto-X - the cable is (was) your compression release.

I have found the bike is a 1985 200x. Still need help with the motor :wondering But at least I can start replacing shock boots, the seat, and handlebars without wondering if it will fit. :w00t: Thanks for your help so far. If it is a 200s (Auto 200x) where can I find info on what parts like pistons, gaskets, sprockets, and general fix up stuff will fit that motor?

Same top end, just a different tranny. I think the x cam is a little more suited for performance too.

I found a few numbers on the motor.

1st number was near the spark plug it was 10 thats it.

2nd number was under the port for the exhaust it was 2B.

The 3rd number I beleive is bad news for me it said 180cm3.

That means its probably a 185 motor?
If so that sucks!
Is there somewhere I can find a serial number? I've looked all over.
Also any ideas on modification or fixes to make it run better/faster?

Thanks

I had one of those when I was a teen. If you want her to fly, install an aftermarket cam, port and polish the head, hi compression piston and put on an aftermarket exhaust, she will be a totally different beast. If you skip any of these mods let it be the port and polish. Hope this helps

if it is a 185 i think you can just buy a 200 top end and put it on your lower end

It has a Cobra exhaust and gives off a good sound. Since it says 180cm3 does that mean it is defiantly a 185? If so can I buy aftermarket parts for any 185? Shudup suggested that I could switch out the top end for a 200, is that true? and if so what type of 200 top-end do I need (200x, 200m, 200s, or does it matter?)

Sorry for all the questions this is my first 3 wheeler.

If you look on the bottom of the engine, the numbers identifying it are there. It is to the side, I cannot remember right now which side. Get those And I will tell you what engine you have. Unless someone else beats me to it.

It really don't matter if it's a 185 or not. Actually it's better! The 185 cylinder can be bored .140 over. It can take even the biggest overbore 200 piston. If it hasn't already been bored to the moon, I'd keep that cylinder on there and you'll have plenty of material for many, many future bore jobs.

The 180cc is a tell tale sign its a 185 motor. Don't fret ... Any aftermarket "200S" parts should work with it. Also, both motors are rated as having the same amount of horsepower at @ 10 ... the 192cc has a little bit more torque though. I wouldn't waste any time with an almost worthless top end swap that will give you practically zero return performance wise - the one you have now is fine.

I will get this one for you Jenn. ;) ;)
The motor numbers are on the Left side of the motor, down by where the shifter shaft goes into the case.

Thanks Howdy, the number is

TB01E-
3061215

I looked on the main page but didn't find it on the specs page. I went from 79-87. Anyone know what this engine is from?

Catfish, It's good news to know that the engine can be bored out that much :D , maybe that will be something for the future. :p

If you look here under the 1983 185s you will see the motor number matches through the critical part. When looking up motor numbers for Honda you only need to use the first 2/3 of them TB01E-3061215. ;)
