idle/running help

This is my first post, but have been reading alot. this is a great website.

My problem is:

I just got my 200es up and running, It idles ok (could be better), with the airbox top on. with it off it idles really high. messing with the idle screw doesn't really seem to help any. Also when I hit the throttle it seems to stumble and sounds like firecrackers going off. any help would be appreciated. It also has a little exhaust leak will that make it happen.

exhaust leaks contribute to backfires.. getting too much air will make it idle high, its probably getting too much air and not enough fuel. ive never had to do any of this, but i believe you may have to rejet.. someone else probably knows more
