Whats the best way to repair a crack in your plastic?
Aside from replace of course...
Also, has anyone used the new paint for plastic they have been showing on TV of late? Supose to "bond" to the plastic.
I expect old common questions, sorry.

Stitch it up with a couple holes and some wire ties or plastic zip ties. I've also seen some people use sheet metal and some rivits. Both ways should hold up pretty good.

The quickest and easiest way is drilling small holes and plastic zip ties.
Krylon fusion paint bonds pretty good. My brother inlaw used it on his 300ex painted his rear fenders white. been mudboggin, power washed and it still looks ok. Im sure it will scratch easy though with branches after a while.

If it's a quick fix you want, go with zip ties. If not try some rubber cement.

zip ties worked great for me, theyve held up for going on a month now, i got red ones so they kinda blend in with my fender...

also, you could drill a bunch of really small holes along each side of the crack and use 40-50 lb test fishing line and stitch it up...lower profile than the zipties and it will hold up just as good.

Anyone ever tried to " Plastic Weld " ?
It's kinda like a soldering iron with a loop at the top to feed plastic strips into.
My friend has the kit.. i just have not used it yet !

I have a plastic welder. I used it on a foot long crack in my Big Red's fender. It worked great. I only got clear rod with my cheap kit, so you can still kinda see the crack. I can get red rod, I will so the next repair will look better.

rivets and tin!
haha, I would go with the zip ties probaly, rivets are really noticeable.
But i do think this is stronger, you just cut out the shape, drill and rivet.

Me i'm always using the soldering gun(heat gun) to repair plastic. Me and my friend repaired a few fenders with that and it is just working good ! Take the flat tip and go under your plastic, put the flat tip in the plastic every 1/8 of an inch between them, all the way off the crack, be careful to not pass it trough the plastic, then pass again to to push the plastic to make it nice and neet.So that way when you look at your fender, you just see a very tight crack without zip, wire, rivet,or even fishing line. And if you hit something again, i can bet you that it wont crack at the same place.

Make sure when you fix your fender you drill the end of the crack. This will prevent the crack from going any further because it wont start a new crack if theres a drilled circle at the end. And I used red zipties for a quick and easy fix.

i've done this alot using the soldering gun with the flat tip. if you take your time and after its melted back together sand it down with fine paper and you can hardly see it if done right.
plus a convenitly placed sticker hides it even more.
and i think looks better than zip ties. :Bounce

when i was a kid a Vietnam Vet. had repaired cracks in his four wheeler fenders with foreign coins, dozens of them. he drilled holes and used rivets with real fat heads. i always thought it was really cool. ive found useing aluminium, i found those street sights...i swear :) and rivets work well, and no nasty rust streaks.
