would wooley boogers or mudlites get better traction in soupy, sludgy mud, yesterday i was riding on my worn down knobbys and decided it was time for some good mud tires.. i got stuck in some real thick mud.

If you can find them, "original" tread Wooley Boogers (not the cheap Cheng Shin Lumberjacks) are one of the best hardtail mudders made.

Go with the mudlites, boogers are some of the worst tires ever made. If you really want a pair of boogers shot me a PM, I might have a set in the trash pile that are still in good shape.

If boogers were the worst tire ever made why have they been around soo long and are still very popular. Trail pro's I would have to say fit that catagory.

The biggest reason that they are still areound is that it's one of the few tires you buy off the rack at your TSC, Farm & Fleet, and Wal-Mart. I've ran many of tires and honestly feel that boogers are over weight, under-tractioned tires. You can do a lot better for the money.

... that might be the case for a more modern machine - but - I still stand by my statement, that for a "hardtail" trike - like his 200ES - they are a perfect mud/snow tire. Their carcass is balloony enough to provide the "suspension" that a more modern mud tire, like the Mudlite is going to have engineered out of it. Again, not the crappy C829 Cheng Shins - the original Gateway Wooley. I had a set both on my '82R and my '84 200S and they would go through anything. Also, the tread isn't as aggressive - that will not sap his already limited horsepower.

Why is there a diff between the original and the copies. They look the same and I have copies on my SX and they work great. Just wondering.

Gateway made the original "wooley booger" way back when many of you were just an itch in your daddy's pants. lol

I have Kenda Dirt Dogs (Wooly Boogers) on My 1987 200X. I love them, although any tires are going to ba a compromise if You ride year round. I don't hear too many people talking about how (I think) it's good to have a tire you can break loose on the hard stuff. I guess My main rush from triking comes from the ability to get sideways speedway style.

I have the duros (booger copies) on my 250sx, they look just like the old gateways, and they are about the cheapest thing going.

They work great in the mud, but its very hard to get them to slide.

I've ran wooley boogers for over 20 years, and will continue as long as they make them.I rarely get flats, tread lasts forever, and they have always impressed me in the mud. They are HEAVY though.

I have some of the original gateway wooley boogers. they are stiff and heavy, but they never wear down and they pull good. but this is on a 110.

A friend of mine had the Gateway Woolies on his ATC 185 and that thing hauled ***** on the beach.

Kenda Dirt Dog WB's have a flatter profile. Don't think I'd ever buy Duro or other WB's. To round of a profile, won't break loose sideways. Duro HF245's ? Now You're talking !!!

usually when i'm on my 250r atc or my 300ex I just bomb the mud or puddles. you don't stand a chance on a 2 wheel drive on them. All you can do is get a handful of throttle and hope to not even hit the stuff!!!

Not unless you have a machine that weighs less than you... lol I go mudding with my 110 a lot, and just a few days ago I drag-raced a '98 King Quad (with 4 wheel drive, super low range, and diff lock!) through the mud pits. And won.

I probably don't have enough experience to add anything helpful but here goes:

I have a set of 22/11/8 wooley boogers (Copies) AND a set of 22/11/8 Mud Lites. All tires are mounted on rims so I can swap for different riding conditions. When riding here at the house, I use the boogers as they are more forgiving to my lawn, they also get used for general trail riding, beach riding, etc.
Now the mud lites I use for a specific purpose. When I go fishing on the Amite River, I usuall ride there on the 3wheeler and it is allways muddy. Also, during hunting season when it's raining a lot more. In any type of mud (as long I can keep my trailer hitch form dragging) I have no problems other than mud flying everywhere. Lots more confidence than with the boogers. I've noticed though that the mud lites wear fast on hard terrain which is another reason I keep the boogers on a set of rims. The mud lites also have a very harsh ride, but in the mud that don't matter.

If you want wooleis, dont get the Duros. Get the Nankang Formula W.B's. They're flatter than the Duro Woolies.
