I just replaced the side case on my tecate, cause there was a small crack from the kickstarter hitting it. While I had the case off of course I started messing with stuff, and the kickstart never sprung back correctly, so I took the kick start out.. I thought the spring was weak so today I bought a new one, put it in, and it still doesnt spring back, it just stays down.. What did I do wrong?? I put the assembly in, then rotated the shaft all the way clockwise, is there something I'm forgetting??

Here is a pic...

I HAD THE SAME PROBLEM WHEN I WENT TO REASSEMBLE MINE. THE PROBLEM WAS, IF I REMEMBER CORRECTLY, THE SPRING HAS TO LOCK INTO A SMALL CHAMBERIN THERE SOMEWHERE UNDER THE GEAR. YOU WILL KNOW AS YOU ASSEMBLE IT WHEN YOU HAVE IT RIGHT, IT MAY TAKE YOU A FEW TIMES TO GET IT RIGHT , BUT IT IS NO MAJOR PROBLEM. LIKE ME YOU MAY NOT HAVE ENOUGH LIGHT IN THERE TO SEE WHAT YOU ARE DOING. GOOD LUCK!

SEAN. The plastic bushing has a groove in it, it sits over the spring. Make sure it is seated properly, if not it will bind up the whole kicker assembly. I can scan you the parts blow up and e-mail it to you if you want.
