heres the thread ill keep updating with pics as my tri z begins to take shape. ive posted some other pics so far in random threads, but this is the one where im gonna keep all the stuff for now on. here are some pics from tonight after i sprayed my frame. im gonna let it dry a couple days and then it should start to take shape a little quicker. theres also a pic of the works shock for the Z that i picked up a while back. i originally wanted to powdercoat everything but im running low on funds and the 2 week turnaround time at the shop would kill my chances on having this thing together and tuned for trikefest. hope you guys like it

heres some more pics of the progress, not a whole lot more complete than it was before but i have just finished mocking up my new grab bar/gas can holder. I used an old banshee baja grab bar and added my own carrier to it, i think it looks pretty cool, she should shine up alright too. it hold a 1 gallon gan pretty snug, a strap over the top and ill have no problems. also heres a pic of the forks painted with a nice dark grey. fork seals will be here tommo, should have the front end assembled shortly after

Are you going to polish your fork legs? I'm in the process of doing mine right now. Wet sanding with 320, 400, 600 and then polishing with mothers. I have one leg done so far, looks really nice. There are a few little spots than didn't sand out but they are quite deep.

Opps, just re-read your post and saw you just painted them.

When you get that thing together and running, don't ride it much, It wont take much to break that yammerhaw again. LOL. :p ;) :D

It is looking good though, that paint looks nice. Hopefully things go smoothly.

I stopped by my neighbors tonight and told him to get a list together of what he has for Z's. He said he'd have it tomorrow. So I'll let you know.

heres a few more pics from tonight, I rebuilt my rear brake and cleaned it up a bit, i got my master cylinder all cleaned up too, should look good witht the steel breaided line as well.

And the best feeling ive had in the last month... i started assembling stuff now, she startting to look like a tri-z. I have to say its really wierd doing this build up cause there is so much stuff im not using anymore. the YZ wiring harness is like 5 wires total. Im using a top mount gas tank, so no airbox, gas tank gaurd, no gas tank, no gas tank bracket. Im also not going to be running the thermostat since the YZ didnt have one. I am getting excited now, i cant see this taking much more then 2 weeks to be rideable... Which is good casue i only have 20 days till TF.

TRI Z Racer
05-19-2005, 11:52 PM
sweet deal, i dont plan on riding it too much, honestly i doubt ill have a whole lot of time to actually ride it before we leave, i atleast want to break her in though. Yeah let me know what he has for left over parts, thanks

well alot has happened today, and alot has been completed. ive got a good jump on things. i tiig weled up my rear grab bar so it now hold a gallon gas can. i di this becasue i am now usiing the tri-zinger tank. i stole the idea from another member on the board. I also finally got to see how the YZ motor fits in the frame, no problems there.... except the carb and the bottom hose that connects the radiators. im not sure of my solution to either problem yet. I also put new fork seals in. If you look in the handlebars you can see the tether and my tiny tach. the tach has an hourmeter and goes to 9990. should work pretty sweet i just laid the plastics on, they need to be cleaned up a bit. I cant think of what else i did, just basically rebuilding piece by piece. shes starting to look alot better day by day, What do you guys think?

so tonight, 5/22 my tri-z hates me!!! after struggling with a no spark issue and swapping known working parts with known working yz parts for upwards of 3 hours. toatlly frustrated i sat down at my computer to look at the parts fische and low and behold there is this little ground wire for the CDI. Voila... spark. now i throw a swig of gas in the tank and a lil oil and try and start her.... i get one backfire and then smoke from the behind the flywheel/stator. I am less then pleased with tongihts events. It better not pull this crap on me tomorrow. Now for the question

is it common for crank seals to be blown out due to a backfire? it that something that should hav happened. I am almost positive there is no seal holder on the stator side, Anyone have any ideas or insight?

Well shes nearing completion, i only have a few more minor things to do. mainly stuff that goes on the axle. and im waiting on two rear carrier seals. What do you guys think? is she coming out alright? I am personally really happy with how its come out, i had to share it with all of you!!! :w00t: :w00t:

After much fun (from my point of view), back together and running and shifted and worked., well.. thrown together just to see if it ran.

Looks awesome......but let me say that two things are spoiling the look:
1) the seat cover and

2) the gas can in the cooler rack.

Get a nice banshee cover or even a graphics kit seat cover for a bashee or blaster and its on fire man!

hrc85250r
05-31-2005, 08:31 PM
ouch, trizracer worked really hard on that rack, dont hurt his fragile feelings...plus he needs it with the tiny zingert tank, he can probly barely get 10 miles before its bone dry!

TRI Z Racer
05-31-2005, 09:12 PM
the gas can is only gonna be in there when i need it in there, its not gonna be there all the time, just for long rides away from the car. the seat is a def problem, but either i get new seat foam and a seat cover from hi-flite or i go to TF05... im going to trikefest. the seat cover can wait... and besides the SPANDEX is so 80's!!

HRC85250r - nice hat you got there, very purdy, who do you think you are, the crocodile hunter?

Haha yes, the spandex is def. 80's, but not all 80's are cool.. Remember the mullet?

LOL.

I wouldnt worry about it, the pictures make it look alot worse than it really is.

The mullet was one of the best parts of the 80's! I've thought about buying a mullet wig to wear once in awhile. LOL :D

That Z looks long and mean...alot longer than a 'shorty' stock 250R thats for sure...

TRI Z Racer
06-01-2005, 02:22 AM
no problems, i got wide shoulders, i built the +2.5 inch swinger, maybe thats why it looks a little longer. im definately getting a new seat cover soon though, its been on the list just keeps getting pushed back. the spandex has faded alot too, it used to look alot better

finally shes just about done, all i havve left to do is mount up my back brake caliper and clean her up and she will be ready for trikefest!!!!! Its complete night and day, between the PV and no powervalve. even running 14/40 gearing, stiock Z is like 13/44 this thing cant keep the front wheel down. its not the same beast as it was, I cannot wait to sind her out. Take a look at the final pics. i dont bother with my camera anymore, it just sucks. I will soon have a seat cover, just not now.

how do you like thoes tires? and how much where they?

TRI Z Racer
06-03-2005, 02:56 PM
Good call Osin

I really like the tires, they are really meaty with alot of space between the lugs, they perform real well in mud and they hook like a ******* on gravel, dirt and do real well in climbing sand piles in pits. they dont slide like a set of turf tamers but they do still slide. I think they are kinda heavy i believe they only come in 4 and 6 ply. so if your going for lightweight they may not be best. They are made by pure sports, tire is called "bandit" DK sell them for like 75 a piece i think. they came on my wheeler when i bought it 3 years ago and havent worn that much either. I think they are great
