My YTM200 is shaft driven and I can get approximately 50 MPH out of it.

None of the Yam 225 3 wheelers were chain drive from factory.

A Yam 200 can go faster than a 225. It all depends on modifications made to the machine AND how well you can hold on. The 200's didn't have rear suspension but the 225's did. lol

I think 83 ytm200 was chain, 84+ were all shaft.
In 84 they made an E, ER and Yamahauler
I have an original brochure but I can't put my hands on it right now, this is just from memory which isn't the greatest.

if the ytm200 is capable of 50mph the 225dx must be capable of more

I sure wish I owned a 225dx. I would trade in my Yamaha Tri Moto 200 in any day. Can someone tell me how good is the suspension on those 225dx machines? Does it match up with the Honda 200x? Thanx

My '83 is shaft, but they also made a chain driven in '83 too, same for 84 and 85 too.

muddy x i consider bouncin a good thing cos when i change gear and then rev it it bounces, and that looks fat
it looks much better than going along at on level plus i get more looks.

wher i am in the u.k. there are three trikes in the whole of my city. my mate has a 200x (username Xuk) and evryone says my dx looks much betta

At least you guys got shocks. I just about kill myself jumping on my Yamaha Tri Moto 200. At least it has a whole 100mm of front fork travel. LOL. Once a friend of mine tried to clear a 9 foot double with at least a 30 foot gap. He landed so hard he poped one of the back tires. (he didnt quite make it across) but it was kinda funny.

Awww grasshoper you are so wrong. You buddy has a untunned 225 Tri Moto.

OR just get a 250 SX (that way you wont have to do all the modding to keep up with the SX :naughty:)

if the ytm200 is capable of 50mph the 225dx must be capable of more

GEARING ........... If the 225 is geared lower it won't out run on top speed a 200.

Only way to increase top speed on a 225 is if you can increase the RPM's.

Horsepower will make it quicker to the top speed but won't increase the top speed a bit.

Hmm maybe I should make a this vs that thread, but anyway I think the DX would out run the 200 unless the dx had 20" and the 200 had 25"
