just been thinking,i wonder how big of a job it would be putting this back on 3 wheels?I'm not worried about the parts i'm just wondering work wise,to me it seems as easy as cutting off the front end and grinding&painting and installing forks/headlight etc....So if i do this it will be another trike saved...

you would need a parts 225 three wheeler to get the forks off. I dont know how hard it would be. Are you saying that people bought the 225's as three wheelers and then converted them theirselves, or did the dealer do it, becuase i am sure you could buy them as 4 wheelers back then

well as far as i was told you could buy a front end conversion kit from the dealer back in the 80's and weld it up and make a quad,i guess the dealer could do it or you depending if you wanted to pay or not...

after i was told it was a conversion i looked it over really well and notice 1 front tire is up just a tiny bit more then the other so i'm guessing whoever bought the kit did themselves..

they were availiable from the dealer, most of them came factory as 4 wheelers although they may have shared part of the frame and rear end.

Do you have a picture of this machine? I have owned both the 225 3 wheeler and the 225 4 wheelers. Both were original factory machines. So I can tell you if it's a conversion or not.

Just so you guys know, a Honda 200x front will also fit.

I have a question that might seem stupid. Does it have a steering stem for forks to fit through??

yamaha did bring out 225 4 wheeler which shared a majority of parts with its 3 wheeler counter part. the front end would not be one of those kits, it would be a factory made 4 wheeler.

i'll try to get some decent pics soon,i just been workin alot lately,i think it is a conversion, cause i was lookin at some moto4's and most i saw have 2 shocks in the rear with the drive shaft right throught the middle, mine has a monoshock and the driveshat throught the left hand side....i'm gonna look for a vin# on the frame anyone know where i can check this(website?) also i'll get the engine # and see what i can figure out from that.

Hmmm... I thought the Moto-4's that shared a lot of parts with the 225DX was a 200 Moto-4. That's the one that's in my Clymer manual sandwiched with the 200 chain, 200 shaft, and 225DX trikes.

Look in this thread -->>> http://www.3wheelerworldforums.com/showthread.php?p=229489#post229489

I typed out all the engine codes for the 200 trikes, 225 trikes, and the 200 Moto-4's....

Maybe on the larger, newer Moto-4's... but the smaller and ones from the same time frame as trikes had nearly identical rear ends.... I'll post up some pics later...

I dont think yamaha made a 225 4 wheeler back then. His wheeler he thinks is a conversion is actually a factory built machine not a conversion.
