I have a Westcoast swingarm for a 250R and after rebuiling it all is good except the rubber seals that should push in the rear and go around the tighting bolts. I was infromed that Westcoast built the swingers around using factory hardware and so far that has proven to be true. The carrier is factory, the pivot bearings and seals are factory, etc, etc.. Now for the life of me I could not get those rubber seals to push into the slits that are available. I pulled my old spare swinger and checked that and they come out and go in like nothing. Very easy!!!! Do I need a different part # for the correct ones, or do I need to modify and mill the slits open wider as they mic out 1/2 the width of the factory swingers?

TIA,
Dave

I've got one on my R but don't for the life of me know what you are talk'n about? Explain more, or show some pics, or refer to one of the pics of mine... Link is my sig-pic.

I don't know much about those swingarms but am quite sure I do know what you are talking about.

Here is what you are describing if you look close.

In the adjustment slots are the rubber seals. This is on a 250X 4 wheeler.

I'm quite sure Troll 2 3WW member can help you out with this as he has that swingarm too.

Mine fit fine, I just lubed them up with WD 40 and pushed them in with a screwdriver.

I guess I could have done a much better job describing, but here is using the above pic.

Their is no way that these are going in on mine. The slits are 1/2 the width of a stock swinger. I tried WD-40 and a screwdriver, grease, etc and they will not go.
Since others have no problems, I guess that I will need to Mill the slits open some.

Thats exact like the one I have. See the vertical slits. They are so narrow next to a stock swing arm that I cannot fit the rubber seals in.

Sounds like it could have gotten tweeked or pushed in. I would take a large flat head screw driver or pry bar with a towel on the end and try to move them apart just alittle bit. If it is way off, then you might have to use more drastic measures.

I doubt that you need anything in there & I've seen people run'n without them for years. Mine are really worn out & looks to me more like someone just shot some silicone in after the carrier was installed anyway. Thats what I'd do, not mill anything, just put some silicone sealer in & let it set-up... instant gasket IMO. :beer

I had a westcoast on my bike back in the 80's. I didn't use the rubber pieces.
