Well..... my 82R Maier fenders are more of a darker red than the OEM bright red. Hard to explain.... I'll try to get then close to each other and take a pic.

Here is a pic of my 84 250r with rear maier plastic on it. Maier plastic is much stronger than the OEM stuff, but of course its cuz its 20 years old. haha

I prefer OEM plastic since the aftermaket stuff is against my religion.

they are a little darker then the original, but you have to figure the originals are 20 years old.

IMO it really improves the looks of the rear R fender if you cover over the white border on the number plate stickers with a Magic Marker.

i always go with a white number plate background.there just is not enough black on the bike for the bakgrounds to be black,imo\

i just put my black oem tank ,and complete maier plastics on my 86r.the fit is not perfect, but they are shiny and look pretty good.

Go with maier. I Just hung maier that came wit hmy 85R and I like it. Yeah, the fit isn't identical to OEM,but it does fit well and the color is nice and the plastic does have a nice shine too it. I know there are some people who are all OEM religious but i have a hard time mentally tromping through the woods wearing a set of $400+ (yes I know thats not an exact sum) plastic I just know that no matter how careful I ride the plastics gonna get messed up and who am I kidding? Who on this board rides these things like grandma? . I plan on buying a set of OEM to throw in the atic for show, and run the maier for ridding.

In your case mike I would get the thing running and good brakes and then worry about cosmetics. i thing you are going to be surprised by the difference between your SX and that R. Speacially with the 300r kit on it. I would look for a aftermarket pipe that will compliment that 300kit. I thouht about you when that complete bills pipe set showed up in the ebay forum.

it has a pipe (aftermarket) on it now. i want to see what kind of shape that is in first. i am also going to get a pro circuit silencer today. working on the brakes. should have all the pieces parts by wed. i need. now i just have to hope the crank is okay.

Darius does :p
I completely understand if you wanna toss rocks at me

I did same thing, pulled oem off and put maier on just to save the $400+ oem stuff.
