I am planning to extend my 250r swinger either 4 or 6 inches. For those of you who have done this where did you guys go about finding a longer brake hose? did you guys just order one from another machine or did you have to get one a certain amount of inches long? Also how did you guys go about finding a right length chain? thanks

I haven't done the extended swingarm bit, but you'd have to have a custom brake line made and either buy a new chain 8"-12" longer depending on the new swingarm length or add additional links to lengthen your existing chain and use a 2nd master link.

I went to a local place that made mine up for me. had to try two places befor I found one that had the right banjo fittings. I had to have mine made a little longer to come around another way, because they did not have the right angle fitting.

i think thats cause your R is air cooled, the water cooled R's you cut right after the shock mount on the swinger, there is a little gap, measure the gap and cut the gap in half, also make sure the cut is a 90 degree clean cut, then take the inch size +4, +3 blah blah.. then take square tubing i bleive Inch and 1/4. and press it into the swinger and weld it up nice a strong, remeber this is going to take most of the stress of a rut or whoops and will be a weak spot in the swinger, make sure your welds are clean and strong, also continuely check the swinger after rides and before rides, dont want that falling off.

On the 86 250r if you only go 4 over you dont need the extended brake line. I just rerouted my lines. Any longer then yes you will need it. Where are your planned places of riding? Trails with some interesting hills? I found 4 was perfect for me. I dont have too much of a built trike really, but its just right for those hills and keeping the nose down.

I mostly trail ride and do some hill climbs and drag race my buddies every once and a while. I probaly could get away with only using a +4 but i think i that extra 2" makes it look pretty bad arse. But maybe ill just stick to 4 to save me some hassle and money of trying to find some new brake linese. what do you guys think?

Another thing that has to be considered is the suspension>A rule of thumb is that for every inch you go back you loose 10% of your rebound .I would think 3-5 to be safe on trails and hills that way with your stock suspension you can play with it a little!

I never even took that into consideration. Thanks sandpuppi
