Perch lever tightness

I see so many 3 wheelers with broken perches or levers.

Why? Because they are tighten too tight. A perch is supposed to be tightened so it can move on impact, not cranked down as tight as you can get it.

That's correct, and while you are at it, move them inboard to the point that the end of the lever does not stick past the grip end. Result is less broken levers.
