I have an air cooled 250R and have a chance to trade it for an 85 200x and $100 or an 86 200x. Both are in ok shape. 86 is bored .20 over with a high compression piston, and cobra exhaust. The 85 is in slightly better cosmetic shape and is bored .30 over with a cobra pipe as well. Which would you go for and why? Is there a speed difference between the 86 and 85? How much of a difference is there between the suspensions really? I don't always ride my trike, sometimes I'm on my 4x4 and let a buddy ride the trike (but ha;f of them will kill themselves on the 250R so that's why I'm trading). I've included pictures of all 3 trikes. FROM LEFT TO RIGHT 250R.........86 200x..... 85 200x

i say take both for you r i would keep the r and forget about the 200x. but if you do trade go with the 86 and get some $$$ from the other guy. i had both 85 and 86 the 86 of course was upgraded in the new year not by much but i had a blast on my 86 took it to trikefest the first year i went. now i bought an 86 350x so i sold the 86 200x i still miss that 200x it was a great bike. your r looks a lot nicer then those 200x too. how much to buy the r outright?

I would be open to offers on the 250R. The front was that way when I bought it. I don't have any pictures of my trx300 4x4 but I just put some big money into it. I added 12" wheels, 25" front tires and 26" rear vampires, lift kit, and some disc brakes. So you don't think the 86 straight up would be a good trade??? My 250R needs pads, the perch for the front brake lever is broken too (have the piece to weld back on though.......broke on the bottom where the bottom of the bolt goes through), and rear caliper seal replaced. Also with trading either of the 200s I will be keeping my wheels and tires from the R.

Why don't you call that guy up "Rogers" or something up in Buffalo that keeps try to trade his 86 200X for a 250R... that way, we don't have to keep seeing his crys for help in the Classifieds? :beer

Oh... you know the guy that has that 85 200X??? I'd be interested in those front fork gaurds..... think they'd work pretty slick on my "Desert/Baja" styled 82R.

Dang..... that 4x4 sounds nice! I know someone that has the Hondaline speedo kit for that 4 wheeler.... he should have 3 of the kits, unless he's relisted them. However, they'd be out of calibraton with those larger tires.... did they have different size tires on them F-R originally? Or did you buy that as a complete kit? I'd be concerned that you might be fighting front back if you didn't stick with the stock tire circumfrences....

Perch.... There was a guy awhile back that was selling Cannondale ATV closeout perches with the master cylinders for the front brakes. Can't remember the seller, but seems like they had a ton of those parts... picked up some SS front brake lines from him too!

Rear Cal Seal... Which seal is leaking?? If it's the Oring that goes on the parking brake plate, I got you covered....

I think the seal on that caliper is the one that goes on the caliper piston. The piston is stuck, I think the seal got wedged in there cause it worked fine till all of the sudden. The trx300 4x4 came stock with staggered front and rear tires (1" difference front to back). Something about the gear ratios in the front and rear diffs. Rides nice, I did flip it on myself first night I got the new parts on, scary thing to happen (weighs too much to get it off by yourself.........I had to wait for my buddy on his 400ex to help me out).

The picture of your R isn't the greatest (not close enough to judge condition) but isn't an R like that worth 12-1500 if in good shape?

Seems like you would be ripping yourself off?

Sell the R outright and you can find premo 86's for that $$. That's if you get between 12 & 1500 for it.
