Just dicking around in the yard would that hurt it?

Reason I ask is I saw a nice 225 for sale with the exception of the header  pipe missing and a few other odds and ends and the kids been riding it that way.

Well it wont have any back pressure period and it might burn out the valve seals.

I guess a compression test would give me those answers but then if it's good I can't use that as an excuse to talk him down. :wondering

I knew it would have no back pressure though, that's for sure!

stick a drilled flat stock over it so you have some backpressure until you can get exhaust like i did on my old 110 :)

it will get the exhaust valves red hot...

why not get an exhaust for it just to be safe... you know

it must sound stupid without a headpipe

1 A compression test will not tell you if the valve seals are any good.

2 As said before you're risking head/valve damage.

3 You’re going to be lean, leading to over heating and cylinder damage with a possible seizure.

4 If you want to do it the respectable safe way just figure on putting an exhaust on it.

I think what he's asking is what damage should he be looking for if he decides to buy it.

if the guy has been riding it without a headpipe on your gurenteed to need a valve job right off the top- it dosent take long to burn out/bend a valve on these small motors, mind you 225 dx valves are like 22 bucks so it isnt too serious

Actually, they do sound pretty good. My friend and I cut the exhaust about 10" from the cylinder on his LT125.

NO, he means it when he said it sounds "BUBBLY". With NO pipe @ ALL. I did it for a few minuits, a long long time ago... It sounds like a blip'n and high pitched pop'n almost like a submerged under watter sound. Plus things can get thrown right into that open head, like gravel & BAM! Talk the guy down just because of the use without a head pipe IMO!

Ok Huffa... tomorrow has come! :Bounce

 I blame it on my wife and the weather for not being able to accomplish my mission today.

She does landscaping on the side (heck of a worker) and this morning picked up a trailer load of plants to plant, unfortunately the rain moves in and she comes home with it filled to brim with plants.

So now I must wait till tomorrow till she goes back and unloads it.

Last night I couldn't get to sleep till 1:30 just thinking about it, now I got to wait another 24 hours almost.

I'll pass the time by finishing my carb among other details I guess.

Hey, ya know what? ...........it sure will be easy working on 225 #1 once I bring 225 # 2 home! Espeacially the wiring harness. I can forget in 2 minutes or less how a part went so this will be cake now. :D

I kind of figured you would be tossing and turning all night.... Get your ole lady out there to unload YOUR trailer And go get my new ride. :D lol

If I asked her to do that she'd have a FIT! No can do, just have to wait. She doesn't even know I'm getting it either!

It's total crap out anyway, I like picking toys up when it's a 1/2 decent day so tomorrow will work out fine.

+ It's going directly to the car wash.

If she gives you any lip :D Just tell her it is mine or Brian's

I bet you this is the way most of us buy trikes these days...Gotta keep it low key...wait till they're sleepling, then quietly slip it into the garage unnoticed. If they see them you just say what in the heck are you talking about...that's been sitting there for months!!! :Bounce :w00t: :TrikesOwn

Huffa.... you so inspired me to take those Yamaline (hehehee) Assessory hand guards out of the box and mount them up on my 200ERN! I worked down to the shop all day today on parting out some 200X carcasses (carcii) I had laying around.... a frame for each year 83-85!

So you going to keep that 225DX or are you going to sell it to me when your wife freaks??? :D Guess there's an advantage of being single... you're only limited to your dreams and the size of your shop! :naughty:
