i just looked at a i believe 84 225 that is good shape but tyhe sky blue plastics are faded & the headlight shroud is broken the guy wants $300 but i think i should get it for like $240 or so . the kid said he had it running for a second & he put a brand new battery in it but the electric starter dont work so i clicked on the compression release & pulled it once & it fired right up then i rode it in first gear for less then a minute ( down the drivway & back ) & it seemed ok coming back up the driveway the autoclutch slipped for a split second & then grabbed & wheelied up the driveway then it died out & i couldnt get it too stay running after that . i suspect it needs a carb rebuild & retune new plug , autoclutch shoes & just some tlc then maybe a new starter or rebuilt . so i think ill pick it up sunday but then aguy down the street just put out a 82-83 250r with a 85-86 or so front end on it (& the dents in the tank to prove it ) w/ brand new maier plastic & carlisle strikers on back . its pretty clean but itas $ 900 I dont know what to buy (well i do 250r) but my old lady will be pissed & i kinda would like to have the 225dx (electric start full suspended woods machine ) i also have a 02 blaster race quad so i kinda want a woods trike . what does everyone on here have to say ????????????????????? ( sorry kinda long winded!!!!!!!!!!!)

If you like blipping around thru the woods, doing tricky slow speed manuvers, riding thru creek beds, hopping rocks & logs and just plain ole having fun I'd say buy the 225.
The motor is much more forgiving being a 4 stroke. 250R while certainly can be used in the woods has a large frame and much snappier throttle. I'd much rather have the 225 for tight trails and not disturbing nature but then again if you meet up with Papa bear, I'll take the 250R. :D

Why not start a thread in this vs. that? 1985 225dx vs. a big ole black bear...who would win? I had a bear dart across the trail right in front of me once. I thought for sure I was a gonner. I seen him off to the side of the trail so I gunned it...Well he seen me and decided to do the same. lol we almost meet right in the middle. I don't ever want something like that to happen again that's for sure..scary!!!
