Need some help choosin a mud tire.

Im lookin for a mud tire for my SX and Ive choosen 5 different possibilities. My problem mainly is I want a good mud tire AND still be able to powerslide. Anyone use any of these?

IMO its a choice between the BearClaws and the Mudlites. The Bearclaws seem to have a flatter profile then the balloonish Mudlites which would make them a better slider.

Sorry, no such animal. You have to either find some compromise and decide on which end you want to sacrifice, or keep two sets of tires on rims. My personal choice is a set of Maxi All Trax, and a set of Turf Tamers. A good compromise that does okay in both, but not paticularly great in either are the Razers, Holeshots and similar design tires.

ok well since I do alot of mud boggin and trail riding i guess im looking for a mud tire more than a power slideing one. So in that case which is the best for mud?

I will always like the old school wooley booger. I have also tried the ITP 589's and never had a problem in the mud. But it seems like the mud lites are pretty popular these days.

Well correction, there is an aggressive tire that will still power slide.
I have these on my 350x and have put them in a few nice mud holes and boy do they grab. They also slide pretty good on a 350x, now not sure they will slide as good on an SX, due to the power difference. But I have to say they work pretty good for me..........peace

I run the spider track on my 350x and ran the TSL super swampers on an 84 200x, the are both great in the mud and snow, and good on the trails. TSL super swampers better in the mud.

I can get my bearclaws to break loose on hard packed or gravel surface.. but man those puppies GRAB......

I'd rather be able to get out of a thick mud hole, than powerslide.... you're on an SX.. powersliding is not it's strong point.... But in thick soupy mud.. it feels right at home.. get it the proper shoes man.

An SX needs steel toed rubber boots..

yup! bear claws are awsome! i run lites and i was in some serious crap last weekend. i was runnin with 4x4's. they had lift kits zillas,outlaws,mud bugs. i went through a hole that a 4x4 couldn't, he fried his belt and had to get winched out. either way claws or lites are a good choice for mud/swamp....but i never seen gators in action. they seem to have a good pattern as well.

i will let * rid emy sx with my sur trac son it, they are awesoem in mud and also slide fairly well.

ITP Spidertracs, worked well in the snow and the Tecate was able to powerslide them on pavement lol. Haven't got to trail test them yet.

I had them on a 200X & and 250X 4 wheeler. I thought they worked pretty darn good and yes you could slide them. Heavy though.

I just bought tires and probably would have bought them again but figured I'll give the Kenda Vipers a try that are somewhat simular in design.

Scott, did you by any chance weigh them because I weighed the Vipers and got 19.4 lbs on them I think. I was surprised they weighed so much. The all traks got to be in the same weight leauge if not heavier. Shipping weight was 15 for the vipes but my scale sure didn't agree.

I have wooly booger type tires on my sx right now, they are cheap and couldnt be any better in the mud. They do not slide though.
