By removing the rotor covers which don't serve a big purpose I can show off the nice caliper and paint the middle section of rotor + a few other parts.
Since it isn't sealed I just foresee mud-dirt building up inside the covers and feel it's a lot better off, being off.
Brake assembly will be much easier to clean and be a real nice contrast to all the black back there. Only 2 minor problems is .......
1) must have a bracket welded on the skid plate for the caliper piston return tension spring since the one end of spring originally mounts to the outside cover
2) not absolutly nessacary but since the covers will be off the rear bottom portin (6-8:00 position) of rotor is exposed and I might have a bit more plating added on to skid to make up for it. This I can't tell for sure till I get my wheels back on and trike sits in normal position. I never had the thing with air in rear tires (tires were shot when I got it) so do not know the ground clearance.
Normally, coverage would be fine but if you are on rocky terrian that would have me worried a bit and I know there will be times when I am.
So there you have it as far as what must be done if you want to do the same set up.
Be a while till that segment is complete but I'll post a picture of it then.
