I really like my 125 tri-moto, but I hated the way it handled. I decided to go ahead and try to widen it. My fiancee flopped it over last year and got hurt pretty bad, so I wanted it to be less tippy. I decided I could NOT afford a new wider axle, and at the same time, I didn't want huge spacers because huge spacers would probably bend the existing axle. So, I decided an inch and a half per side wouldn't be too much additional strees on the axle. So I made two 1 1/2" spacers. I also decided that if I'm going to do this, I better beef up the studs. So I drilled 1/2" holes in the hubs and wheels, and went with 1/2" thick nuts/bolts. Worked great, it only took me an hour or so start to finish. So, overall, it's 3" wider. I was pretty surprised by how much it helped the handling/tippy factor. It is a blast through the woods now. Zig-zag-zig-zag-zig-zag. And it handle the ruts on my dirt road a lot better. I even "torture tested" it and jumped it about a foot in the air, just to double-check that they were tough enough. (normally I don't jump it) I'm pretty happy overall.

Here is some more pictures of it. http://www.3wheelerworldforums.com/showthread.php?t=25138 I have changed quite a bit since then. I cut off the rear end and built a totally new one, with a monoshock this time. Lowered the seat, stripped the bike of all unnecessary things, geared it down, went with pod style filters, built different wheelie bars, lots of things. It is pretty damn fast now, and I am seriously thinking of entering my local ATV drags. I think I will do pretty good.

It sounds really crude, but I am confident they will work out. All I did was cut six 1 1/2" long pieces of one inch pipe, and put them on each lug between the wheel and hub. Used 2" bolts/nuts, 1/2" tick, grade eight. The hardest part was making sure they were all EXACTLY the same length. If one was off even as little as an 1/8", the wheel would have wobbled terribly. They all came out dead even.
