I have been asked that so many times lol. I like the way it stays planted in the corners, maybe its just me but it seems to bite and stay planted in the corners better than any other tire I have tried + the look of it has grown on me and I like it that way :p

If you didn't put so damn much armor all on your front tire, maybe a stock front tire would stay planted in the corners too! :D :D

I have the same tire on my Z and i love the way it hooks up. I had a stock one but it slid way to much for me.

They are not considered a mud tire. If you look in Dennis Kirk magazine it says sport, utility, and farm tire. Their are other tires listed as mud tires.

HAHAHA Mr. Granger, when you put the word Farm in along with Sport, it sort of loses something does it not :D What you are seeing on Dennis Kirk, is a attempt to sell tires to a far wider audience and improve their profit margin. It would seem to me their advertising is working...now with that being said, I realize with a Triz at least, it is harder to find a 12" tire that will fit and work properly but they are out there in a less agressive better looking tread than a 489 just takes more digging. If people like them and want to run them, that's cool I was just curious as to why. I've seen plenty of 489's and other mud/utility type tires on the front of trikes, but 86250rz is the first R I've seen that was all fixed up to look nice and armoralled that was equipped in such a fashion that's all LOL.

No big deal, dosent bother me at all, to each his own. The thing is, the look has actually grown on me and I love the way the 489 looks on my R. Oh, by the way the only thing that has any armorall at all on it in that pic is the tires, my plastics are so clean and shinny they dont need it and on the seat I use a leather restore product.

Come on now DK is always right!, if they say something, you better believe it!

He needs that tire up there so he can crank turns in the 3 foot of mud!

Haha.. But honostly, A tire like that is ehh.. disgusting? on the front of an R, The only reason they are available in that size is because they were designed for the 4x4 quads.

Its funny really.. You see low profile rears (tires), some shiny plastics, chrome, bling.. then right at the front of it all is a big obnoxious mud tire that screws the entire look up.

I have a 23.5 489 on the front of my Z. It hooks up great and it doesn't just slide when you grab the front brake going down hills either, it actually work :p

what brand is the front tire. 489 dont tell me a whole lot other than what model it is.

489 is all you need to know, mine are the Kinda brand but other tire manufactures make 489's and they all look the same.

Its a Titan - I have 489XT's on the front of the Scrammy - its a more aggressive version of the 489AT. Its an ok, but kind of heavy, tall front tire for a sport quad - I would imagine on a trike though it would be pretty good just because of those traits.

I thought Carlisle made the 489s as a cheaper version of the itp 589s?

I'm pretty sure ITP bought the designs and Titan is no more .... the reality of it is they're probably all made in China. Mine say TITAN in titanic letters on the side, then have a smaller symbol next to it that says "The Griz" and finally the 489XT. AT489's are the stock tires on quite a few quads these days.
