View Full Version : Metal shavings on flywheel
i have started to fix up an '85 200x motor. the stator cover was cracked so i planned to replace it. when i took off the old one i found tiny metal shavings stuck to the fly wheel. is this normal? is this a sign of an internal problem? I would hate for those little buggers to cause irregular wear to other parts? I appreciate tips or opinions, thanks.

Because the flywheel has magnets all The metal in there gets stuck to it. It probably wouldnt hurt to pull the flywheel and check the seal/bearing.

I had this problem.....on the stator and in the oil pump....turned out to be the thrust washers beside the rod....NOT GOOD....luckily it didnt throw a rod....but it could also be a gear, something rubbing on the case(s).... i would take it apart....Id rather be safe than sorry!!!
